Thanks to everybody’s overwhelming
generosity in 2010, when dementia sufferer, Jamie Graham and Crew
rowed to Henley Royal Regatta, we helped fund the first year of
Dr Magdalena Sastre’s four-year project at Imperial College
London. |
 |
Jamie supports this research, since
it links exercise to the production of the protein, PGC1a, which
protects the brain from the development of amyloid deposits, the
key components of Alzheimer’s. |
 |
The following year, Jamie and his
Team decided to row back down river, from Henley to Eton for the
Fourth of June celebrations. This time crew member Jo Rogers and
her cameramen filmed the whole event. The wonderful documentary
she produced for Ascendent Films tells the story of Jamie's return
to his old school to head the Procession of Boats, reliving his
days in the 1960s before early-onset Alzheimer's disease. |
